2014 Creekside Zinfandel
VINTAGE The Creekside Vineyard was planted soon after the repeal of Prohibition in the mid-1930s. These old vines consistently produce beautiful bunches of complex fruit yielding an excellent zinfandel. The headline of the 2014 vintage was a major forest fire at our doorstep. The fire, along with intense drought conditions and a reduced crop load produced a wine with deep color and concentrated fruit flavors.
VINEYARD Creekside is a 7.5 acre vineyard lying atop decomposed granite soil (Sierra soil) and along a creek-bed that runs during the rainy season. The vineyard faces southwest benefitting from day-long sun exposure and gentle breezes. The vines are naturally stressed due to dry farming and head pruning techniques.
TASTE Aromas of cherries, red licorice, cola, and tobacco greet the nose. On the palate, cherries, cola, and black pepper combine with ample oak to form a full bodied zestful zinfandel.
