Our Barbera is produced in extremely limited quantities and is somewhat unique for an Amador Barbera.

Planted in 1993, the vineyard is tended similarly to our heritage Zinfandel vines – head-pruned and dry-farmed. This traditional practice keeps yields low and intensifies the fruit characteristics. The Barbera clone used for this vineyard continually produces a high acid wine (even among Barberas) that pairs well with food – especially tomato based dishes.

Notice the color when first poured in the glass, dark in hue but vibrant in tone. Flavors of plums and cherries predominate the palate with ample acidity in the mouth. Aged in entirely in French oak, this wine offers a smooth lasting finish. Enjoy!

Wow! This is some killer wine! Dark berries, cocoa, Cherries jubilee, vanilla, and leather on the nose. Medium to full bodied. Not super dark in color but not light either. I must mention I am color blind! It jut has a very interesting hue to me than the other wines. Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, vanilla, on the palate with a distinct chocolate on the finish. Now for the balance. I don’t know that I have had a Barbera or any wine for that matter, that melts everything juicy and fruity about it with the very present acidity and medium fine grained tannins. So balanced even with the high acidity that I think is the very thing that will allow it to cellar for 5-7 years or so. Maybe longer, but why wait when this is such an incredible experience as a young wine? Very good with acidic tomato based dishes, veal Parmesan, marinara pasta, tomato bisque. Ok just buy some before they sell out again!
